Challenge:

Working with both Fifty Eight and Arise Foundation, we were assigned the task of breathing character and usability into a unique phone app that helps to track the impact of those working on the ground.

Strategy:

The first part of our strategy was to design physical persona for the app that could help a less technically literate audience engage with data collection, through a friendly, informative experience. The second focus was on finding the right pace for the collected information, breaking it up enough to not make it overwhelming, but given the right level of grouping so the user does not spend a long time looking for information – offering simple visibility and effortless updates to large amounts of data.

Visual development:

One of the earliest prototypes of the wireframed app was affectionately named Mel (monitoring, evaluation and learning), with the intention of renaming at a later stage. Mel actually offered the perfect opportunity to develop an ambiguous persona that could be at the centre of the app, offering helpful advice and assistance at critical use points.

"The Pretty Clever team quickly got to grips with the heart and aims of the platform and worked closely with our in-house team to bring that to life in a way that is practical, friendly and beautiful."
